This expanded and revised edition of The New Kendo Textbook adds QR codes linking to instructional videos, making it an even more practical and accessible guide to learning Kendo.

Originally published in 2017, this updated version is designed especially for beginners, clearly explaining everything from basic etiquette and foundational techniques to advanced skills, match strategies, and effective training methods. Using a combination of detailed photographs and video demonstrations, it teaches the essential techniques and their practical applications in a way that is easy to understand and follow.

Covering both fundamentals and real combat application, the book serves as a comprehensive introduction to Kendo, a lifelong martial art that develops both mind and body. It also carefully explains etiquette (reigi) and provides structured guidance suitable as a first textbook for new practitioners.

In addition, this edition includes updated instruction on bokuto (wooden sword) movements required for the first dan promotion examination, making it a valuable resource for students preparing for grading as well.
