Guidance and Supervision: Shusai Iwasa Katsuhashi (Head of Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryu School) Born in 1945 in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. From a young age, he studied Shinin Jikishinkage-ryu under his father. In 1986, he studied under Koshiro Hayakawa, the headmaster of the Menkyo Kaiden Jikishinkage-ryu in the Otani-ha lineage. In 1986, he succeeded as the second head of the Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryu headquarters, where he has since devoted himself to preserving and teaching the school's traditions.

Surprised to find video of this Martial Art

I would say that this is the most accurate form of the ancient art of Jikishin Kage Ryu that I have seen. Though the video has a kind of home-made aspect to it, the forms show decisiveness and the explanations are succinct. I was surprised to see Taijutsu, Martial Art demos coming from Kenjyutsu.

I was told that this is the start of all Martial Arts practice in Japan. So, I suppose Karate and Aikido were derived from the defensive postures of Kenjutsu.

It serves as a good glimpse of the various aspects of the ancient origins of Martial Art in Japan.
