About the Author:

Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1957, he is an author and illustrator. He is a lecturer of Sanskrit and yoga, and conducts research on Southeast Asian traditional martial arts, including ancient Muay Thai. In 1979, he embarked on his first trip to India, wandering throughout India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand for approximately two years. Since then, he has repeatedly visited these regions, diligently collecting information on historical sites, myths and legends, customs, martial arts, and food culture. As an expert on India, he possesses deep knowledge of the history and culture of the surrounding regions. He holds Sanskrit language courses using his original textbooks throughout Japan. His translation of the Yoga Sutras from the original Sanskrit text, explained without using difficult terminology, has gained popularity. His illustrations are also highly regarded for their ability to help people understand complex Indian philosophy.
