This video contains the Hasegawa-Eishin Ryu, which is the chuden or middle level of Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido. It is the third video in the “Hidden Secrets of Japanese Swordsmanship” series. This style is presented as it was taught to me by my teacher, Mitsuzuka Takeshi, Sensei of Tokyo, Japan founder and head of the San Shin Kai International.
The video contains detailed descriptions of each technique and kata of the Hasegawa Eishin Ryu, as well as their bunkai (application). Each kata is first performed slowly, and then at regular speed. Each is shown from the front view and also at another angle for clarity. The footwork of each kata is then shown slowly without hakama to reveal the complex pivoting and foot movements required by the traditional bunkai.
The video is chaptered for your convenience as follows:
1. Reikishi (History)
2. Kihon (Basics)
3. Reiho (Etiquette)
4. Kanji Scroll
5. Yokogumo Kata & Bunkai
6. Tora no Issoku Kata & Bunkai
7. Inazuma Kata & Bunkai
8. Ukigumo Kata & Bunkai
9. Yama Oroshi Kata & Bunkai
10. Iwanami Kata Bunkai
11. Uroku Gaeshi Kata & Bunkai
12. Nami Gaeshi Kata & Bunkai
