About the Instructor:

Masayuki Shimabukuro (1943–2021) was an Okinawan karate master and leading authority of Shobayashi Shorin-ryu, the style founded by his father, Eizo Shimabukuro. Raised in Okinawa and trained from childhood in the traditional kata and principles of Shorin-ryu, he later moved to the United States in the 1970s, where he played a major role in spreading authentic Okinawan karate internationally. Known for his precise kata, strong classical stances, and commitment to preserving traditional technique and lineage, Shimabukuro Sensei became head of the Shobayashi branch after his father’s passing and devoted his life to teaching and maintaining the integrity of Okinawan karate for students around the world.
