The Martial Arts Body Theory That Works for Anything, Discovered Through the Exploration of Ancient Styles

What is the ideal body for martial arts? How should we move the body to defeat an opponent—whether unarmed, with a sword, or a staff?

Hino Budo Research Institute presents the answers to these questions with two core concepts: "Sternum Manipulation" and "Consciousness Techniques." These principles offer a rational method for transmitting power, demonstrating how the human body can be operated and how the mind should be focused to create the most effective physical responses.

This DVD unveils a body theory that works across various styles of martial arts, from hand-to-hand combat to weapons use, by emphasizing how the body and mind work together.

Content Overview:

1. Upright Posture

  • Standing upright enhances strength, connecting the body in a vertical line. This alignment allows for coordinated movement through the whole body, and proper control of your own consciousness and awareness of your opponent's.

2. Using the Elbows

  • The connection from the sternum to the elbows is key. Learn how to use the elbows effectively to create strong, unified movements.

3. Sternum Manipulation (Part 1)

  • Learn how to move the sternum to control the body. By becoming aware of the areas of contact and sensing them correctly, the body’s natural movements can be used to their fullest potential.
  • Techniques to open, close, stretch, and shrink the sternum for increased fluidity and control.

4. Touching

  • How to correctly touch your opponent, ensuring that the opponent doesn’t recognize your movements and can’t anticipate your next action.

5. Sternum Manipulation (Part 2)

  • Develop the ability to move freely and unpredictably by manipulating the body’s movements.
  • Shift from “throwing” to “falling” and converting your body weight into power, creating an uncontrollable force.

6. Stretching and Connecting the Body

  • Stretching the body increases strength by developing a greater sense of physical awareness and connection to the surface of the body.
  • Learn to feel and control your body on a deeper level, enhancing your martial ability.

7. Confrontation

  • Focus on how the opponent “feels” rather than how they look. Learn how to move your weight effectively to shift the balance in your favor.
  • Use counterconsciousness and willpower to stay one step ahead of your opponent.
