This book is for swordsmen who can perform basic strikes but cannot demonstrate them in actual tachiai. It explains in detail in text and video the points you should review to improve your kendo, such as training methods, techniques to break down attacks, and techniques to draw out attacks, in addition to the basic items of each technique that you must remember in order to advance to the next stage, such as kote, men, do, and tsuki techniques, footwork, attack, maai, and kiai.
About the Instructor:
Born on December 3, 1943, in Fukuoka Prefecture. He went on to Fukuoka University of Arts (now Fukuoka University of Education) from Prefectural Chikushigaoka High School. After graduating, he was assigned to Minamichiku High School. After working at Nishi Fukuoka High School, he returned to Fukuoka University of Education as an assistant in 1972, and later became a professor in the health and physical education course. He retired in 2007, and is now a professor emeritus and kendo club instructor. He has participated in the National Teachers' Championship eight times, and the All-Japan East-West Championship six times (serving as captain in 2007). He placed third in the Meiji Village Championship in 1999.
