About the Author:
Seigo Okamoto (1925–2015) was a revered martial artist and the founder of Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Roppokai, a branch of the traditional art emphasizing aiki no jutsu—effortless energy manipulation to control opponents without brute force. A direct student of Tokimune Takeda, son of Daito Ryu's modern founder Sokaku Takeda, Okamoto earned a kyoju dairi (instructor's license) and became a senior instructor before establishing the Roppokai in 1991. Renowned for his precise, fluid techniques, Okamoto refined and simplified Daito Ryu methods, making them accessible to practitioners worldwide. Through seminars, books, and his dedicated students, Okamoto's teachings have left an enduring legacy in the martial arts community.
