Michael Staples holds dual licenses in radiation therapy and depth psychotherapy. Staples is the author of over twenty journal articles, dealing in these fields and has worked in San Francisco at a University, a number of private clinics and at community based hospitals. During the 1970’s, Staples managed to find time to become one of the most prolific U.S. writers in the martial arts field. He published a little over seventy feature magazine articles. He focused on Chinese martial arts. Staples is the author of four books. White Crane Gung-Fu contains numerous photographs and details some of the early history of the White Crane style, as well as providing insight into it’s physical and spiritual techniques.
