He went to the US in 1972 and became the head and instructor of the international department at the Shaolin Martial Arts College before studying Chinese Yiquan and Xingyi Qigong under Master Ouyang Min. In 1992, he became the first Japanese person to receive the Tongqi (Tongqi) ceremony from Master Ouyang Min. Currently, he is the founder of Shiniken and Shini Qigong, and has opened and operates the Ota Dojo in the United States, Japan (Tokyo, Osaka), and Japan. He is a former 5th dan in Shorinji Kempo, chairman of the Shinikai International Shini Gong Federation, and founder of the Ota Dojo of the International Shini Qigong Martial Arts Association.
