About the Instructor:

Ryan Hall, born February 22, 1985, in Arlington, Virginia, is an American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and professional mixed martial artist, competing in the UFC featherweight division. Initially a fan of baseball, basketball, and football, Hall began training in BJJ in 2004 at Ronin Athletics in New York while studying electrical engineering at Manhattan College. He quit school to focus on martial arts, quickly rising through the ranks with over 200 submission wins, including IBJJF World and No-Gi World Championships as a purple belt and a bronze medal at the 2009 ADCC World Championship. Known for his innovative 50/50 guard and heel hook submissions, he earned the nickname "The Wizard." Hall transitioned to MMA in 2012, training at Tristar Gym in Montreal, and won The Ultimate Fighter Season 22 in 2015. He founded the Fifty/50 Martial Arts Academy in Falls Church, Virginia, and is a renowned instructor, launching Ryan Hall Online in 2020. His MMA record stands at 9-2-0, with notable UFC wins over B.J. Penn and Gray Maynard.
