Master Hiroo Mochizuki inherited a rich martial arts tradition spanning generations of renowned Japanese masters. He built his foundation in Aikido (8th Dan), Ju-Jitsu (8th Dan), Iaido (7th Dan), and Judo (3rd Dan), while also receiving extensive training in several styles of Karate, which he helped introduce to Europe during the 1950s.

Beginning his martial arts journey as a child under the legendary Master Morihei Ueshiba and many other distinguished instructors, Hiroo Mochizuki developed a profound understanding of a wide range of martial disciplines. This diverse experience led him to recognize that the true value of martial arts lies not only in technical mastery, but also in cultivating adaptability, creativity, and the ability to respond naturally to any situation.

Determined to make these qualities more accessible to modern practitioners, Master Mochizuki developed an innovative teaching system built around two complementary components: a traditional martial curriculum and a modern sporting system, complete with its own competition format. In the summer of 2000, his father officially named him Soke (headmaster) of the Yoseikan School, entrusting him with the responsibility of carrying the system into the future.

In this instructional program, Master Hiroo Mochizuki is joined by Mario Ambrosini, YWF World Technical Director, and his eldest son, Mitchi Mochizuki, both highly respected state-certified instructors and 6th and 4th Dan YWF practitioners, respectively. Together they present an in-depth exploration of the traditional martial side of Yoseikan Budo, including Happoken Godan, Hasshakuken Yodan (two empty-hand kata), Kyoei Landoli, Tonfa, and Iai Kumidachi. The sport-oriented aspect of the system is covered separately in the companion program, Yoseikan Budo Competition.
