Yoshiaki Fujiwara, born April 27, 1949, is a Japanese professional wrestler, trainer, and promoter. As the first graduate of the New Japan Pro-Wrestling dojo under Karl Gotch, he debuted in 1972 and later served as Antonio Inoki’s bodyguard. He pioneered shoot-style wrestling, co-founded UWF, and then Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi. Fujiwara trained key MMA pioneers including Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki, and Ken Shamrock, and is known for submissions like the Fujiwara armbar. He has remained active for over five decades and successfully overcame cancer in 2007.
