About the Author:

Shunichi Niwa (丹羽峻一) was a Japanese karate master associated with Wado-ryu (和道流). He introduced karate to Gifu Prefecture after learning it at Meiji University, establishing a club in 1949 at what is now Gifu University. A key figure in the All Japan Karate-Do Wado-Kai, he authored illustrated coaching books on Wado-ryu karate, including detailed guides to techniques, katas, and kumite.
