The "IBU Budo Series Vol.1: The History and Spirit of Budo" offers an introduction into the history of budo following its development from its origins through to recent times. The first chapter introduces the social and historical background of the formation of the budo arts, and is followed by five chapters covering the history of kendo, naginata, kyudo, judo and karate-do.
