This DVD features two of Shinkyokushinkai’s premier world tournaments: the 11th World Open Karate Championship (2015) and the 6th World Weight Category Karate Championship (2017). The 2015 tournament brings together elite fighters from around the world in open-weight competition, with coverage from the men’s fifth round through the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place matches, and men’s and women’s championship finals.
The 2017 World Weight Category Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan showcases the semifinals and finals across the men’s and women’s weight divisions. A major highlight is the historic achievement of Yuji Shimamoto and Emi Shoguchi, who captured the heavyweight titles and completed Grand Slams by winning both open-weight and weight-category championships at the Japanese and world levels. Both tournaments also include special collections of ippon and waza-ari highlights
