Founded during the Kanei era by Tokizawa Yahei, who studied Shinkage-ryu under Yagyu Munenori. Tenshinryu Hyoho encompasses battojutsu, kenjutsu, jujutsu, and other martial arts. It is currently led by the ninth headmaster, Teshin Nakamura; the tenth headmaster, Seiun Kuwakai; and the eleventh headmaster, Ryusetsu Ide.
