Protecting Yourself and Your Loved Ones! The "Authentic" Self-Protection Taught by Chinese Martial Arts!
At my dojo, I teach students to view their "training" not as a special time, but as something integrated into everyday life. It's important to see training as continuous with daily life, not just confined to the dojo. For example, in training we use wooden or rubber knives, but whether you imagine them as "real" greatly affects the quality of your practice. If you see them as just tools, you won't develop the tension necessary to respond effectively in real combat. Conversely, those who can visualize them as real weapons can remain calm when facing an actual crisis.
Martial arts isn't simply about fighting techniques, but about wisdom and strategy for "resolving conflicts through martial means." Problems that arise in daily life can also be solved from a martial arts perspective. When the boundary between the dojo and everyday life disappears, martial arts becomes your way of life itself.
