For people who want to know not only what Ed Parker was teaching but what he was like as a person, this is the book for you. The journey from being a practitioner of an offshoot style of Kenpo to becoming a first generation student of the "Father of American Karate" is described through transcription of personal lesson notes and seminar videotapes, and relating of personal ex-periences. This book offers a unique combination of looks into Parker's personality and also shows how he developed his system in the decade before his passing by inclusion of technical discussions of his work.

Lee Wedlake studied with Ed Parker from 1979 through 1990. This book looks into those years of training and traveling with the master of Kenpo Karate. Under his tutelage Wedlake would become one of the noted senior instructors of the Parker system.

He traveled with the Ed Parker team to Europe and Australia and accompanied him at seminars around the United States. Parker used him as a model for his own books and oversaw the numerous magazine articles authored by his student.
