About the Author:
Yumio Nawa (1912–2006) was a Japanese martial artist, historical consultant, and researcher of traditional Japanese martial arts and weaponry. Headmaster of the Masaki-ryu chain-and-weight (manrikigusari) tradition, he was widely known for his studies of ninjutsu, concealed weapons, swordsmanship, and historical customs of the samurai era. In addition to teaching martial arts, Nawa authored numerous books on Japanese military history, hidden weapons, historical dramas, and martial traditions, and served as a respected historical advisor for period films and television productions.
