In 1989, Honda-sensei, who had already obtained a license as an acupuncturist in Japan, studied at the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the age of 24 to study acupuncture, moxibustion, and Chinese medicine. In Chinese martial arts, he was introduced to Master Yan Hai, an executive of the National Sports Committee of the Republic of China (at the time of 1989), and was scheduled to become a disciple of Master Jiepeihou of the Yin school of Baguazhang, but he was forced to return to Japan temporarily due to the outbreak of the Tiananmen Square incident. However, he soon returned to China to continue his research activities. In terms of martial arts, he was introduced to Master Sun Zhijun by Master Yanhai, a master of Cheng School Baguazhang, a fourth generation disciple of Baguazhang, and an 8th grade in Chinese martial arts recently established in China, and became a student of him. After that, he studied Cheng School Baguazhang and Hebei School Xingyiquan under Master Sun Zhijun for about eight years until returning to Japan in 1996, and later became a Pai Shi disciple. He is currently a Pai Shi disciple in Cheng School Baguazhang, Sanhuang Paotan, and Taoist health and longevity techniques.
