A Judo Warrior's Journey Around the Globe: America 1904-1907 by Mitsuyo Maeda

Translation of part one of A Judo Warrior's Journey Around the Globe 世界横行柔道武者修業 which is a record of Maeda Mitsuyo's exploits overseas. The book, which was published in 1912, was a collaboration between Maeda Mitsuyo and Usuda Zanun, an author from his hometown. Maeda sent dispatches of his exploits back to Japan, where Usuda edited them into first newspaper articles and then into books.This volume, America 1904~1907, will cover Maeda's arrival in New York and his initial exhibition matches at Harvard, Yale and Columbia University as well as travels to Chicago and the southern United States.
