Yoshinkan Aikido was founded by Gozo Shioda Sensei, one of the earliest and most accomplished students of Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei). With Ueshiba's blessing, Shioda established the Yoshinkan Dojo in 1955, creating a style renowned for its precise, systematic approach to Aikido. While each school has its own methods and emphasis, all share the common goal of preserving and advancing O-Sensei's vision of Aikido as a path toward peace, harmony, and personal development.

Yoshinkan Aikido is distinguished by its clear, structured techniques and strong emphasis on correct fundamentals. Through carefully defined movements, students develop balance, posture, timing, and body mechanics while gaining a deeper understanding of the principles that make Aikido effective. This methodical approach provides an ideal path for beginners while offering experienced practitioners an opportunity to refine every aspect of their technique.

More than a system of self-defense, Aikido was conceived by O-Sensei as a way to cultivate inner strength, self-awareness, and harmony with others. Gozo Shioda faithfully carried forward that philosophy, demonstrating that true martial skill comes from discipline, precision, and a peaceful spirit. The more one studies Aikido, the more its practical techniques and deeper principles reveal themselves.

This program offers an inspiring introduction to several key aspects of Yoshinkan Aikido. While it is not intended to be an exhaustive study of the art, it provides a meaningful glimpse into the techniques, philosophy, and enduring legacy of one of Aikido's most respected traditions.
