Goju-ryu karate, as the name suggests, is constructed based on the natural principle of blending "go" (hard) and "ju" (soft). It utilizes these elements interchangeably, adapting fluidly to the opponent's movements with versatile and adaptable techniques. Among traditional karate styles, Goju-ryu is known for preserving the primitive form of martial arts with great intensity, carrying the deep hues of ancient martial traditions.

Founded by the late Grandmaster Gogen Yamaguchi, the Karate-do Goju-kai, under the leadership of Yamaguchi Goshi Sensei, has further researched and developed the traditional techniques of Goju-ryu inherited from Grandmaster Gogen Yamaguchi. This work represents the condensed outcome of these efforts.

Emphasizing the martial aspect of karate, this production introduces various training methods, starting from fundamental exercises to defensive and offensive techniques such as blocks, punches, kicks, movements, and forms. It also includes the first-ever public presentation of traditional techniques in video format, encapsulating the essence of Goju-ryu karate.

Goes into the depths of non-competition techniques

The DVD is broadly in three parts
1. Bunkai kumite, where bunkai of a sequence of moves is shown in different speeds, angains 1-3 apponents attacking at the same time
2. Kumite with traditional techniques not used or allowed in competitions, like kicks to the knees, punches to the throat and other traditional techniques
3. Exercises with the belt as a resistance

The DVD is not an instructional DVD but should be used as a reference or for new ideas for the advanced Goju practitioner or teacher.
It is quality content of the highest level for a limited audience.
