Gozo Shioda, revered as a master of Aikido, continues to be celebrated posthumously for his exceptional skill and teachings. This DVD collection compiles previously unreleased demonstrations, along with valuable footage of Shioda instructing his senior students at training sessions and black belt meetings. The collection also includes fully restored and digitized old film reels, showcasing these rare and precious moments for the first time. These recordings serve not only as a testament to Shioda's prowess but also as an essential historical archive for future generations of martial artists. This is Gozo Shioda's final bequest to the world of martial arts.

Demonstrations:

  • February 10, 1962: Commemorating the visit of Robert Kennedy and his wife. Gozo Shioda, age 46.
  • November 11, 1973: Inauguration of the Yoshinkan Koganei Dojo. Gozo Shioda, age 58.
  • April 12, 1983: Commemorating the visit of Sir Laurens van der Post. Gozo Shioda, age 67.
  • January 15, 1989: New Year’s Kagami Biraki ceremony. Gozo Shioda, age 73.
  • January 13, 1991: New Year’s Kagami Biraki ceremony. Gozo Shioda, age 75.

Teaching Divine Techniques:

  • From August 26, 1989, to March 29, 1990, Shioda conducted training sessions and black belt meetings, where he imparted the principles of divine techniques to his senior disciples and a select few black belts. During these sessions, he often reminisced about his teacher, Morihei Ueshiba, saying, "Ueshiba-sensei used to do it this way," as he revealed the essence of Aikido techniques. The divine techniques shared in these recordings represent Shioda's final martial arts testament to the world.
