Takemusu Aiki represents the culmination of the teachings of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba as they were developed and preserved in Iwama, the birthplace of modern Aikido. It was there that O-Sensei refined the principles that became the foundation of his art. According to Morihiro Saito Sensei, much of this original technical curriculum gradually disappeared from mainstream Aikido over time as the art evolved under the leadership of Kisshomaru Ueshiba, who sought to make Aikido more accessible to a broader audience. Historical documents related to this evolution, personally entrusted to Patricia Guerri by Morihiro Saito Sensei, are included as bonus material with this program.
Aiki Bukikai is dedicated to preserving, developing, and transmitting the teachings that Morihiro Saito Sensei faithfully safeguarded throughout his lifetime in Iwama. Guided by the principles of harmony, respect, and non-conflict—the very spirit of Tao—the organization honors his legacy while respecting the different paths taken within the Aikido community.
In this instructional program, Patricia Guerri, Soke of Aiki Bukikai, presents a comprehensive collection of advanced Aiki techniques that faithfully reflect the teachings she received directly from Morihiro Saito Sensei. These techniques serve not only as practical instruction but also as a tribute to the man who devoted his life to preserving the complete technical heritage of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba.
Once the principles of Aiki have been fully understood, they give rise to an unlimited number of technical possibilities. Aiki Bukikai encompasses Aiki Ken, Aiki Jo, Bukiwaza, and Tai-Jutsu, forming a complete martial system built upon the integration of empty-hand and weapons practice. Out of respect for Morihiro Saito Sensei and his legacy, the name Takemusu Aiki has not been adopted by Aiki Bukikai, recognizing it as a title uniquely associated with Saito Sensei's own teaching.
Patricia Guerri is one of the very few European practitioners to have trained extensively under Morihiro Saito Sensei in Iwama, including three years as an uchi-deshi (live-in student) at the historic Iwama Dojo. Over the course of twelve years and numerous training visits to Japan, she immersed herself in the daily practice and traditions of the dojo, returning time and again to study at the source of O-Sensei's teachings. This exceptional experience makes her one of the foremost authorities on the authentic Iwama tradition and uniquely qualified to pass on its principles to future generations.
