Keisetsu Yoshimaru studied Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu under Yukiyoshi Sagawa, who many consider to be the most talented instructor of Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, from 1961 to 1976. After leaving Sagawa's dojo, Yoshimaru went on to study Daito Ryu, Jujutsu, and Chinese martial arts under Kinbei Sato. Yoshimaru later founded his own organization, the Aiki Rentaikai.
