About the instructor:
Roberto “Roleta” Magalhães is one of the most influential Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors of his generation. A longtime member of the Gracie Barra team under Carlos Gracie Jr., Roleta became a multiple-time BJJ World and Pan Champion during the 1990s and established himself as one of the era’s most accomplished guard players.
Roleta is particularly renowned for his innovative and highly technical guard game. His creative use of inversions, unusual angles, sweeps, and submissions helped introduce concepts that would later become fundamental parts of modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Following his competitive career, Roleta continued to contribute to the art as an instructor, passing his distinctive approach and decades of high-level experience on to new generations of practitioners.
