About the Author:
Martial arts researcher. Born in Tokyo in 1949. Entered the martial arts path in his early twenties, and founded Shoseikan Dojo in 1978. Since then, he has independently researched swordsmanship, sword drawing, staff fighting, spear fighting, naginata fighting, and martial arts. His techniques and theories have attracted attention from the fields of sports, musical instrument playing, nursing care, robotics, education, and more. His many books include "Body Manipulation Techniques Learned from Ancient Martial Arts" (Iwanami Gendai Bunko), "How to Cope with Old Age Learned from Ancient Martial Arts" (Yama to Keikokusha), and "Theory of Improvement" (co-authored with Hojo Ryou, PHP Institute).
