The basis of karate is "kata," and the traditional training method is to practice kata and then kumite. What is important is to master not only the external elements, but also the basic elements for performing techniques, such as the movement of joints and muscles, and the movement of the center of gravity. Born in 1948 as the eldest son of five siblings, Hatsuo Royama entered the Oyama Dojo in the fall of his first year of high school. In 1973 he won the "5th All Japan Karatedo Championships". In 1980, he opened a branch dojo in Saitama prefecture and is the branch manager. Since 1990 he has been Vice-Chair of the National Branch Chiefs' Meeting. After the death of President Mas Oyama (April 26, 1994), he was Chief Shihan, Chief Advisor, and General Manager of East Asia and the former Soviet Union.
