Explore the techniques, forms, and weapons of Kung Fu San Soo with this extensive instructional collection taught by Mark Colby. Presented in a systematic format, the series connects hand forms with fighting applications, showing how body mechanics, angles, leverage, and patterns of movement work together.

The curriculum covers Dap Ga lessons 1–45 and 83, numerous Fut Ga lessons, and San Soo Defense Forms. Instruction examines joint locks, entrances, knife defenses and takeaways, hard and soft techniques, bases, angling, triangles of power, and dynamic tension.

Topics include:

  • Hand forms: Forms 4, 13, 52, 69, 70, 71, 72, and 73, with instruction in linking forms into longer sequences.

  • Fighting applications: Offensive and defensive techniques, joint locks, leverage, knife applications, and adapting movements to different situations.

  • Weapons training: Single and double swords, butterfly swords, double knives, crescent moon knives, Chai, staff, spear, walking stick, and baton.

  • Baton instruction: Teaching methods, exercises, practical applications, and baton adaptations of Dap Ga lessons 1–9.

  • Jimmy Woo’s Five Base Form: Detailed instruction in connecting five forms into a large, diamond-shaped sequence, including its presentation as a sword form.

  • The Second Five Base Form: Instruction in the first three bases as hand forms, with spear, double knife, and Chai variations.

With its broad coverage of empty-hand and weapons material, this collection provides an extensive reference for students and instructors interested in studying the relationships between San Soo’s forms, principles, and fighting techniques.

Note: This set includes the complete run of DVD from series one through part of series twelve with the exception of series 4 disc 1, that disc is missing.

About the Instructor

Mark Colby began studying Kung Fu San Soo in August 1985 under Master Carl Lorenzen at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. He began teaching in 1990 and served as an assistant instructor under Lorenzen from 1990–1996, then assisted Scott Pemberton’s classes through 2004. Colb earned his black belt in May 1992 and was awarded the rank of Master by Lorenzen in May 2003. In January 2005, he began systematically filming the art to preserve and share the material he had received. His instruction emphasizes practical body mechanics, the connection between forms and fighting applications, and continued learning throughout a lifetime of practice.
