Is Causing Pain the Ultimate Form of Self Defense?

About the Instructor:

Shosui Iwaki began studying Shito Ryu Karate at age 18. At age 30, he encountered Tenshin Koryu Kenpo and began training under its 11th generation master.

Later, he studied martial arts philosophy under martial arts historian Teiichi Shimada, capture techniques under instructor Masami Onoe, and body evasion techniques under Yoshio Kunimatsu.

He has dedicated his life to pursuing the true original form of martial arts.

In July 1989, he received authorization in Tenshin Ryu Kenpo, the family tradition of the Ueno lineage, from the late Yoshiaki Ueno, the 9th headmaster of Shinto Tenshin Ryu Kenpo.

At the same time, questioning his own martial arts practice, which had focused primarily on striking techniques and killing methods, he began a new pursuit of "Yawara" techniques that completely eliminate the use of force.

He currently teaches future generations as the headmaster of Taikyoku Shosuiryu.
