Michel Van Rijt and Eric Garnier, both former training partners and students of Bas Rutten, bring complementary skills and philosophies to their instruction. Though their personalities and technical approaches differ, they share a deep respect for martial arts, discipline, and the principles of Bushido.

Michel Van Rijt is a 4th Dan in Judo and Ju-Jitsu, a European Champion, World silver medalist, 1st Dan in Karate, and a Pancrase instructor. He was also a multiple-time Dutch champion in Pencak Silat. Today, he teaches seminars around the world and is widely respected for his exceptional ground fighting skills. A true Ne Waza specialist, his technical precision and competitive experience have earned him recognition as one of the world's premier Ju-Jitsu practitioners.

Eric Garnier is one of Europe's leading experts in Chin Na. A 2nd Dan in Ju-Jitsu, he is also an instructor in Chinese Boxing, Tai Chi Qigong, cane, stick, and knife techniques, as well as a trained herbalist and accomplished Kendo practitioner. As founder of the Bas Rutten Academy, he played a key role in introducing and developing Pancrase in France, training alongside legendary fighters such as Bas Rutten, Marco Ruas, and Remco Pardoel.

Following a friendly wager in which he narrowly missed defeating a much heavier opponent within five minutes—winning in 5 minutes and 17 seconds—Eric famously tore up his Pancrase instructor certificate signed by Masami Osaki and Bas Rutten before leaving the Bas Rutten Academy. He remains one of the few French Pancrase competitors to receive recognition in Japan, earning featured coverage twice in the renowned Japanese combat sports magazine Kakutogi.

In this program, Michel Van Rijt and Eric Garnier present a comprehensive study of Ne Waza (ground fighting). The instruction covers traditional gi-based grappling, Pancrase-inspired techniques, advanced positional strategies, submissions, transitions, and a selection of techniques that are prohibited in sport competition but valuable for understanding the complete art of ground combat.
