- Yuki Nakai: Born on August 18, 1970, in Hokkaido, Japan. Nakai studied Shichitei Judo, which follows the tradition of Kosen Judo, during his time at Hokkaido University. He later joined Shooto and made his professional debut in 1993. In November 1994, he became the 3rd Welterweight Champion. Nakai’s career faced a significant challenge when he lost sight in his right eye due to an illegal attack during the Vale Tudo Japan Open 1994. Despite this setback, he persevered and became a prominent jiu-jitsu practitioner, winning numerous competitions. In February 1998, Nakai earned his brown belt and, in July 1999, became the first Japanese person to receive a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He currently runs his dojo, 'Paraestra,' pursuing his vision for Japanese jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts.
