This easy-to-follow and visually wonderful one-of-a-kind book is divided into two sections, which were originally published seperately. Part I shows the emaki for 92 techniques from Katayama Hoki Ryu Jujutsu, or koshimawari (related to Takenouchi Ryu). Pages 16-199 are the emaki, which are full page color photos. The right page is the original text from the emaki. The left page is the color illustration from the emaki.

Part II contains 400 pictures demonstrating step-by-step how to perform 82 of the techniques from the emaki. For example, technique number 52 - Boshibari. The emaki and original text for Boshibari are on pages 116-117. Pages 284-285 show how to do the technique from the emaki. Furthermore, the text from the emaki is repeated again in modern Japanese. Also, both sections list the corresponding page numbers for easy reference.
