There exists a book known as "The Silver Book." It is a B5 edition, spanning 380 pages, with a silver cover. Published on March 10, 1978 (Showa 53), it was created under the supervision and guidance of Gozo Shioda by Kyoichi Inoue and Yoiji Kusuda to establish various teaching methods for practices like those of the Metropolitan Police Department. It is a significant foundation for the subsequent spread and development of Aikido, encompassing fundamental techniques of Aikido. Based on this "Silver Book," Kyoichi Inoue, who contributed to the formulation of basic techniques, has produced a DVD explaining the martial art's origins to inheritors, weaving in stories from that time. It is structured to enable a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of Aikido, aiming to pass down the essence of Aikido to future generations.

The DVD is really good

Inoue sensei is awesome and with him being dead, it's really great to still get some of his knowledge. It's well translated into English with minor exceptions like strikes being called punches a few times. I want to say he mostly sticks to the basics but I somehow still managed to take a lot of notes despite that I've been doing aikido (renshinkai) for over 5 years with a fairly competent teacher. The set is costly but well worth it if you're obsessed with aikido (if you're in Canada, beware, you might have to pay fees. This was my 5th or so order with the company and I was never charged any post-fees until this most recent time in winter '19).
