To the untrained eye, it looks like a traditional Ryukyuan dance. In reality, it is a devastating system of combat. This book explores Motobu Udundi, the palace art designed for absolute defense and battlefield survival. Master Uehara reveals how fluid, deceptive grace transforms instantly into lethal efficiency.
- The Royal Lineage: Discover the hidden history of the Ryukyu Kingdom's private guard.
- The Power of Stepwork: Learn why Master Uehara declared that "the foundation of martial arts lies in the footwork."
- Deceptive Mechanics: Master the fluid, dance-like motions that camouflage advanced joint locks, throws, and pressure-point strikes.
- Rare Photographic Heritage: Study archival images of Master Uehara demonstrating forms that were once forbidden to outsiders.
This is not a basic instruction manual. "Bu no Mai" is a holy grail for collectors, practitioners of Okinawa Karate, and anyone seeking the true roots of ancient battlefield arts.
