Rooted in Takeda Sokaku’s swordsmanship, Sagawa-ha despises “sticking” or “bracing” in close combat—because any pause allows the opponent to cut in. Yoshimaru Keisetsu, trained directly by successor Sagawa Yukiyoshi, also emphasized to me the critical importance of “no bracing.” Explosive power means releasing natural body state, no effort, with awareness and extension force.
