Wisdom of Samurai to Demonstrate Power to Overcome

Those who control close combat control everything.

Etiquette is formality and protocol, yet a samurai always anticipates surprise attacks, mastering etiquette that includes defensive and retaliatory postures. By performing spontaneous, instinctive actions and executing sincere bowing, one can enhance martial skill and attain ultimate strength. The samurai's etiquette, based on the Kogasawara-ryu etiquette dating back to the Muromachi period, incorporates martial principles, evolving into unique sword etiquette. It is a path that respects the original intent and dignity of etiquette while being constructed through defensive movements against adversaries, resonating with the teaching of "winning without drawing the sword."
