The Neck Whip is awesome! As an experienced martial artist since the age of 15 (I'm 63 now), using this item is second nature to me, as I've practiced Manrikigusari since my early beginnings. The DVD, however, while informative, spends too much time on endless variations that are rather obvious and instinctual, depending on where your positioning is to begin a strike. The truth is that the two downward diagonal and two lateral strikes are going to be the most used ones in an actual conflict, with the upward diagonals only used rarely, depending on positioning. And truthfully, this item should only be used for one or two surprise strikes before either escaping or enjoining a more aggressive attack using other means (punches, kicks, grapples, etc.). It's a surprise weapon for self defense, and not really meant for use in a pitched battle. Overall, I'm very pleased with the item, and wear it daily as part of my EDC.
