Yagyu Sekishusai Sogen invited Kamiizumi Ise no Kami Nobutsuna to teach him, and after developing a new secret of Muryoku, he established the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu style, which was adopted by Tokugawa Ieyasu and became the family style of the shogunate. After that, it was passed down to later generations in two branches, Edo Yagyu and Owari Yagyu, but Kobe Kinshichi, a senior disciple of Yagyu Genshu, who was the head of the Owari Yagyu family during the late Edo period, did not change Genshu's teachings even during the changing times, and passed them down to the Shunpu-kan dojo in the same form as Edo samurai used them.

Kato Isao, the current director of Shunpu-kan, studied Yagyu Shinkage-ryu martial arts and Owari Nuki-ryu spearmanship under Kobe Kinshu. In 1962, he built Shunpu-kan in Soen-cho, Nagoya, inherited the Kobe tradition and dojo, and has trained many disciples to pass on the teachings of Yagyu Genshu and Kobe Kinshu to future generations.

Under the supervision of Director Kato, this film contains the entire Ganshuden Shinkage-ryu school of Shunpu-kan, which continues to carry on the techniques of the Edo period. It includes the three "Sangakuen no Tachi" swords handed down at Shunpu-kan, from Owari-tsukai, Edo-tsukai, and Koden, to the "Shichi-tachi" swords that were generally believed to have been lost, and the "Ogi no Tachi" swords that were kept secret, all of which are being shown on film for the first time. Director Kato himself talks publicly for the first time about the characteristics of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu's techniques and basic body movements, which are not to be missed.
