About the lineage:

Karl Geis (1933–2014) was an influential American martial arts instructor best known for judo and aikido. He began training while stationed in Japan with the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s, studying judo at the Kodokan and aikido with prominent Japanese teachers.

After returning to the United States, Geis established a major martial arts program in Houston, Texas, and became particularly influential in developing American judo. He held high ranks in both judo and aikido and developed his own approach emphasizing timing, balance, efficient movement, and practical application. His students and affiliated schools became known collectively as the Karl Geis system/lineage, which continues through instructors he trained.
