A new technical book that sharply describes and explains the essence of karate-do kata!

What was the martial arts karate that Sosai Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate, aimed for?

One of the answers is kata.

The purpose of learning kata is to master three things: "body use," "linking techniques," and "the art of offense and defense." In other words, it is to master "mind, technique, and body" (how to use the body, how to put together techniques, and psychological tactics).

[Returning to the origins of Kyokushin Karate]

The basis of karate is "kata," and the traditional training method is to practice kata and then kumite. What is important is to master not only the external elements, but also the basic elements for performing techniques, such as the movement of joints and muscles, and the movement of the center of gravity. These elements are called "basics," and do not refer to external elements.

"Returning to the origins of Kyokushin Karate" means to understand the establishment of Kyokushin Karate while reaffirming what Sosai Oyama aimed for. There is no other way to describe it than "basics that are in line with the earth, kata that make sense, and elegant kumite."

Furthermore, the spirit is "keep your head low and your eyes high, keep your mouth shut and be open-minded, and use filial piety as your foundation to benefit others," and it is to embody this. Director Rozan Hatsuo, a senior disciple of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama, established the Kyokushinkan in order to revive true Kyokushin Karate. The activities of the Kyokushinkan are a "return to the origins of Kyokushin Karate."

This book embodies the origins of karate-do by sharply demonstrating and explaining the essence of the kata, rather than just the superficial movements.
