The Imanari roll was created by Japanese MMA fighter Masakazu Imanari and has gone on to become an important technique in many jiu-jitsu fighters repertoires. Marvin Castelle is part of the new generation of jiu-jitsu athletes who has perfected the Imanari roll and has used it to great success in high level jiu-jitsu superfights.

More than just a great fighter, Marvin and his student Brandon Lim, are both highly qualified instructors hailing from 10th Planet HQ in Los Angeles who know how to break techniques down into all of the small details that really make them work.

At first glance, the Imanari roll looks like a tornado of limbs, but don't be dismayed! Marvin carefully and concisely explains each part of the roll, starting from standing and ending with a submission.

Marvin shows variations depending on how your opponent may try to defend. Also, the instructors share some of their highest percentage escapes from common Imanari roll submissions.

Its okay

Its allright. The two guys go into basics of Ilmari Roll, and with a few other videos its a solid base.

The thing is, more than one time i asked myself about the topic.

They explain various escapes from Ashi Garami, various Heel Hook Grips, which is fine and anyhow connected to the imanari-topic, but if I wanna see Ashi Escapes, I watch another video.

They use two entries; one is a armdrag with a sit-down, which, if I do it to a trainingspartner, he passes me along imediateley. I miss more ideas for a Entry. What about Foot sweeps. What about if the guy grabs my back?
What about chaining fwith a low ankle pick? Any Ideas from DelaRiva, from X Guard, from a Knee Bar?

I made the experience, I often get it when guys push away my head from a collar tie..

Links to sciccor Takedown?

Maybe Drills to make it faster? I`m sure I find something about this in a breadance-Tutorial, which is partially similar, but all in all I can find on youtube more...

positive is, both guys are fitting in each other, both show techniques, not one is the dummy alone.

Thanks for your effort, anyway

Nice job!

If you want to learn the Imanari Roll and more then get this instructional on it. I recently bought it and am teaching my students the Imanari roll.
I also recommend getting Imanari's DVD instructional that teaches the Imanari Roll and much more. Also get Ryan Hall's
50/50 Leglocks set
where he teaches the Imanari roll that he got on BJ Penn in
the UFC.
