In this book, U.S. Grand Judo champion and three-time national champion Hayward Nishioka illustrates a wide variety of foot throws and an equally wide variety of applications that any martial artist can benefit from.

Techniques covered include sweeps, reaps and wheels, as well as various combinations and unclassified throws to bring your opponent to the ground. His methods are useful both in the ring and in self-defense situations, Mr. Nishioka is a versatile veteran of the martial arts and a two-time inductee into the Black Belt Hall of Fame (Judo Player of the Year 1968 and Judo Instructor of the Year 1977). He holds a black belt in karate awarded him by the internationally famous Tsutomu Ohshima. The author is also vitally interested in effective programs of self-defense and has designed the techniques presented here for use in the street as well as in tournaments. Black Belt is proud to reissue this self-defense classic due to popular demand.
