Introduction:

The first time I met Kuroda Tetsuzan Sensei was in mid-May of last year. At that time, I learned about the profound principles of the truly effective and practical Japanese traditional swordsmanship, iaijutsu, and jujutsu, as well as some incredible stories about Sensei's grandfather, the late Kuroda Taiji Sensei, and great-grandfather, Kuroda Shogun Sensei.

Additionally, in June, at the first Kobudo Tournament held by the Saitama Branch of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai in Omiya, I had the opportunity to witness Kuroda Sensei's exceptional iai. After several phone conversations, my desire to speak with Kuroda Sensei in more detail grew, and I earnestly requested his time, leading to the realization of this project.

Thus, while this book is presented as a joint work by Kuroda Tetsuzan and myself, Yoshinori Kono, it is essentially a book based on interviews I conducted with Kuroda Sensei. Despite being listed as a co-author, my role is merely to draw out Kuroda Sensei's insights.
