This DVD is a compilation of four VHS volumes originally released in April 1994 to commemorate Master Tamura Iwao's 30 years as a professional Aikido practitioner.
The production concept is something like a "catalog of techniques," and we believe you will enjoy Tamura Sensei's ever-changing and free-flowing demonstration of mind-body unification Aikido.

Tamura Sensei passed away suddenly on April 4, 2003. As his disciples, we knew his lifelong faith in the Way, his strong passion for spreading Ki, and his warm personality, and we are deeply saddened that we will no longer have the opportunity to receive direct instruction from him.

However, I believe that it is Tamura Sensei's last wish and a way to repay the kindness of our late master for each of us to further spread the wonderful Mind-Body Unification Aikido, which was created by Tohei Sensei, throughout the world and contribute to creating a positive society.

We hope that the footage on this DVD will allow you to connect with the spirit of Tamura Iwao Sensei and encourage you to practice Shinshin Toitsu Aikido with even more enthusiasm.

Brief biography of Master Iwao Tamura:

He joined the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in 1959. While in the military, he enrolled in the English Literature Department of the Faculty of Letters at Meiji Gakuin University.
After retiring from the Air Self-Defense Force, he worked as an English teacher and then joined the Japanese Language Institute in 1964.
He is a dedicated Ki instructor.

In October 1970, the Tesshinkan Dojo was opened in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1972, he became the head of the Kanagawa Prefecture branch of the Ki Research Society. In 1977, the Ki Research Society was approved as a foundation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and he became the director of the headquarters. Since then, he has opened dojos, schools, and other facilities not only in Kanagawa Prefecture, but also in Tokyo, Miyagi, Hokkaido, and other areas.

(As of January 2005, the Kanagawa branch has branches in Gunma, Saitama, Nagano, Niigata, Chiba, and other prefectures in addition to the above.) It has expanded to 109 dojo classrooms and clubs. During this time, he was also sent to the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and other countries as a special instructor at headquarters.

On January 3, 1998, he was promoted to the highest rank of 9th dan in Shinshin Toitsu Aikido. He passed away at his home on April 4, 2003, at the age of 65.
