Chris Hofacker is a veteran police officer with over 18 years of experience and has been involved in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat for over 30 years. He has worked for police departments and academies, training officers in defensive tactics, and has been owner or co-owner of two mixed martial arts schools. He has studied wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, tae kwon do, aikido, judo, kung fu, and pressure point fighting. He is certified as a Defensive Tactics Instructor Trainer with the State of Ohio and works for Sam Faulkner at the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy.

He is the founder of the fighting system known as "Kanji-Itsu." This system encompasses a full circle of fighting styles, including stand-up fighting, control tactics, joint manipulation, pressure points, grappling, and ground fighting.
