The Philippines has a long history of life-and-death combat. From ancient times to the modern day, the fighting arts of the Filipino archipelago have proven themselves time and again to be efficient, effective, and extremely deadly systems of combat.

There are countless systems of Filipino martial arts spread throughout the thousands of islands in the region. Many are closely guarded family traditions that outsiders may never have the opportunity to learn. Fortunately, many others have been shared with the rest of the world, allowing practitioners everywhere to experience their effectiveness.

From the Kyusho perspective, training begins with revival and restoration methods before progressing to mobile arm targeting as the foundation of its martial application. When analyzing an attack, aside from kicks, nearly every offensive action begins with the arms. The challenge is that the arms are the fastest-moving parts of the body, possessing the greatest range of motion and the widest variety of attack angles. For this reason, arm targeting is a demanding yet essential component of training that should be integrated into every session through a wide variety of drills and scenarios.

Another way to simplify this level of training is through the development of effective arm trapping skills, which help control and redirect an opponent's movement while creating opportunities for decisive counterattacks.

Featuring Kali Master Raffi Derderian and Kyusho practitioner Evan Pantazi, this collaborative film combines the principles of Filipino martial arts and Kyusho into a unique and highly practical approach to combat training.
