This is a reprint and translation of a Kodokan Judo notebook which illustrates thirty-four throwing techniques. The author is an unknown student and the book is undated, but was probably drawn in the early 20th century.
The book concludes with a list of thirty-three Jujutsu schools that influenced Kano Jigoro when he formed the Kodokan. Additional information regarding the founding of these schools and their curriculum has been added. In addition, where possible, historical documents from each school have been included along with anecdotes and illustrations of techniques from historical sources.
Also contains an overview of Chin Genpin 陳元贇 (1587~1671) a Shaolin practitioner who travelled to Japan and introduced techniques to Samurai that were incorporated into Jujutsu.
